Morning Blessings
greeting a new day with a new blessing
each sunrise is a new blessing
each day we are blessed anew
each morning we are blessed yet again
prayers among birdsong at the rising sun
prayers and reflections by quiet pool as the cool sun rises behind a gray curtain

The last of the Angels: Angel Undone
In the end the Angel folded her wings
and let her body fall through the cold air toward cruel stone
till at last she sparks and catches flame and crashes down into a turbulent sea
hair ablaze shedding burning feathers the color of a thousand sunsets

090909 Dreams of Stone Angels
Waking the Mirror
The mirror sleeps the long night.
When it is dawn and the ritual begins
Waking the mirror
At first small bright flying things
Each shinning with its own light
Each admires its reflection as they fly westward
Then day glow white herons or egrets
spread their massive wings so that the sleepy mirror gets an eye full
and at last, the sun, burning with the white hot fires of a new day
marshals all the hues of the rainbow
calls them by name
and demands they speak their colors into the liquid mirror
The glass is full of light.
